Mayor Calls for Community to Back "House of Joy" Project
As he prepared to step down from his role as Mayor of Bicester, Councillor Les Sibley made a final, passionate plea for the town to get behind the Alexandra House of Joy. Speaking at the annual town meeting, he highlighted the project as a vital necessity for the region.
At this stage, the project was estimated at £2.5 million, and the Mayor urged local residents and businesses to ensure the momentum from the recent £1 million donation was not lost. He praised the Scott-Hunters for their "vision and tenacity" in turning a personal tragedy into a community-wide mission.
“This is a project that Bicester should be proud of. It is about dignity, it is about care, and it is about our community looking after its own.”
